Upcoming Classes & Workshops
Cantor is offering the following classes/workshops this spring. Please contact Cantor Kate by email, phone, or text to sign up.
Exploring Our Liturgy
Begins in February
A bi-weekly class, in person at the synagogue, to learn about the structure and history of the prayer service, as well as to explore ways to make prayer more meaningful. A knowledge of Hebrew is not required.
Finding God
Begins in February
Class will meet in person at the synagogue (with an option to Zoom in) to discuss Finding God: 10 Jewish Responses, by Rifat Soncino and Daniel Syme. This slender book is packed with information about the many ways that Jews have looked at God through the centuries, from the Biblical period to the modern age. When you think about the Divine, what do you imagine? Do you “believe” in “God” at all? This is a book to help you consider the myriad way that Jews have seen God – and to find your own way of looking at the Divine.
(Please purchase a copy of the book.)
Jewish Approaches to the End of Life, Mourning, and Beyond
Begins in April or May
A two to three session workshop, on Zoom, looking at Jewish laws, customs, and
teachings about illness, death, the grieving process, and afterlife.
Tea with Cantor Kate
TBD - Different Times are Bring Considered
Our first get-together went well – watch for more opportunities to hang out with Cantor Kate and pick her brain about Judaism, or just to get to know each other. This may be brown bag, or we may supply the nosh.
